The Mental Game of Tennis
Last updated 8 October 2026
This policy explains what The Mental Game of Tennis collects, why, and who else sees it. It describes the app as it actually behaves.
The short version. You create an account with your email address and a password. Your account holds your name, the answers you give during setup, and your training progress, so they follow you to a new phone. We also process your subscription status, the questions you ask the AI Mentor, and standard analytics and crash reports.
We do not sell your data. We do not run advertising. There is no third-party ad tracking in this app. You can delete your account and everything in it from inside the app at any time.
The Mental Game of Tennis (“the app”) is published by the team behind thementalgame.app (“we”, “us”). For anything in this policy — including a request to see or delete your data — write to support@thementalgame.app, and we will reply within 30 days.
After setup the app asks you to create an account with an email address and a password. Account and authentication are provided by Supabase. Your password is stored only as a secure hash; we cannot read it.
Your account stores:
We use this to run the app for you: to restore your progress on another device, to recommend sessions, and to deliver what you paid for.
Some settings are held only in the app's local storage and are removed when you delete the app: your reminder time, sound and playback preferences, your Changeover Mode settings, and downloaded session audio.
If you subscribe, RevenueCat and Apple process the purchase and tell us that your account is entitled to full access. We receive the fact of a subscription and its status. We never receive your payment card, billing address or Apple ID. Apple handles payment and does not share those details with us.
The app uses Google Firebase for analytics, crash reporting and remote configuration. This collects app events (for example, that a purchase screen was shown), a device identifier, device model, operating system version, language and region, and — if the app crashes — a diagnostic report describing the crash. It is used to understand how the app is used and to fix faults.
Session audio is held in private storage and released to your app through a short-lived link once your entitlement has been checked. Requests for that audio reach our provider with your account identifier and the usual network information, including your IP address. We do not build a listening profile from these requests, and your listening history stays on your phone.
If you use the AI Mentor, the question you type, the recent conversation and your playing level and backhand grip are sent to OpenAI to produce an answer. We do not send your name or email address. OpenAI processes this on our behalf and, under its API terms, does not use it to train its models. We keep a count of how many questions each account asks, to enforce usage limits, but not the questions themselves.
If you send feedback from the app, we receive your message, the app version, your platform and — only if you give it — a reply email address.
| Provider | What for | What they receive |

Each is a processor acting on our instructions, save for Apple, which acts as an independent controller for payment.
Where the UK GDPR or EU GDPR applies, our lawful bases are: contract, for your account, progress and entitlement check, because without them the app cannot deliver what you paid for; and legitimate interests, for analytics and crash reporting, in keeping the app working and understanding how it is used. Where consent is required for analytics on your device, we rely on the permission you give through your device settings.
Your account, profile and progress are kept until you delete your account. Deleting your account (Profile → Settings → Delete Account) permanently removes your account, profile and progress from our systems. Entitlement records may be kept for up to 24 months after a subscription ends so that a restored purchase still works. Crash reports are kept for 90 days. Analytics data is retained according to our Firebase configuration, currently 14 months.
If you are in the UK, the EU or another region with equivalent law, you have the right to ask for a copy of your data, to have it corrected or erased, to object to or restrict processing, and to complain to your data protection authority. If you are in California, you have the right to know what is collected, to have it deleted, and not to be discriminated against for asking — and we confirm we do not sell or share personal information as those terms are defined by the CCPA.
You can see and correct your profile in the app, and delete your account and all its data under Profile → Settings → Delete Account. For anything else, write to support@thementalgame.app from the email address on your account and we will respond within 30 days.
The app is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect data from them. If you believe a child has provided us with data, write to us and we will delete it.
Our providers may process data in the United States and elsewhere outside the UK and EEA. Where they do, transfers are covered by the UK International Data Transfer Addendum or the European Commission's Standard Contractual Clauses.
If we change this policy we will update the date at the top of this page, and for anything significant we will say so in the app before the change takes effect.
